Artist Biography:

Sarasvati has been a performer since age 5, beginning with a collaborative dance duet alongside New York Choreographer Rob O'Neill at Changing Scenes Theatre in Denver,CO. She wrote, recorded, copyrighted and published her first song at age 9, which, to her delight, was played on the radio in China. This song caught the attention of Joan Baez, who wrote her a handwritten letter laden with encouragement. "I very much like your song. I think it is good, and I love the way you sing it. I'd like to encourage you to go on writing songs about the things you care about."-Joan Baez. Sarasvati continued to perform with a local choir, bringing about the opportunity to open for Quincy Jones and Tevin Campbell at the Goodwill Games, when she was 11. It was at this performance that she was able to connect with the world renowned Total Experience Gospel Choir. Sarasvati was smitten with gospel music, and begged her parents to let her join this choir instead. She started singing with Total Experience that very next week, and performed professionally a minimum of once a week from then on until she graduated High School. Sarasvati was thankful to perform at Seattle's premier venues, including Paramount Theatre, Moore Theatre, The Gorge AmphiTheatre, The Key Arena, and The KingDome. This included singing the National Anthem and several halftime performances for The Seattle SuperSonics, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and Washington Huskies. Live TV performances included Good Morning America,Seattle's WB, Komo Channel 4's Northwest Afternoon, and Kiro Channel 7. It was enlightening to be able to perform on the same bill as Blind Boys of Alabama,The Winans, Sweet Honey in The Rock, and Michael Bolton, among many others. Sarasvati re-emerged to use her experience in learning from legends such as this, combined with life experience, in 2011. She joined Seattle Hip Hop band, Token Folk, as Lead Vocalist. Together, they released an EP, "Introducing", which included a much attended Single, "The Vibes". In a short span, Token Folk performed many shows, including respected Seattle venues Rendezvous Jewelbox Theatre, Faire Gallery,The White Rabbit, Tiger Lounge, Lo-Fi, High Dive, Comet Tavern, and Chop Suey. In addition, NW Coffee Festival at The Seattle Center, Umojafest, and Portland's Tonic Lounge. Sarasvati is very pleased to bring you the next chapter in her career; Solo Debut EP, "Build Bridges To Love", produced by Polyester The Saint and recorded at Truth Studios in Los Angeles. This collection showcases her songwriting abilities that blend genres, reaching lovers of music from the heart.
